Residential Recycle Collection Guidelines

All residential recycle items must be placed on the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day in the proper recycle cart. Recycle carts will be picked up every other week on your trash day. Collections are not considered missed until after 5:00 p.m. on your scheduled day.

Please call (317) 823-5334 or toll free at (800) 234-6881 if your recycle cart was not picked up or if you have any questions or concerns.

Republic Services of Indiana has provided you a 96-gallon recycling cart for your separated recycling waste materials. Your efforts are critical to the success of curbside recycling in the Town of Speedway. Please be sure cart access is unobstructed for the recycling collectors on your scheduled day.

Republic Services will empty the cart using trucks that are equipped with an automated arm. This arm will grasp and quickly empty the container into the truck and then return the cart to its original position at the curb, which allows the operator to remain in the cab. This operation is a more prompt and safe method rather than manual collection.

• Make sure the cart has at least 4-feet of clearance from mailboxes, parked cars, etc. and that the handle is facing the residence.
• Make sure your cart lid is closed. This will keep any trash from spilling out into the roadway while dumping.

When you recycle, please leave a 4-foot clearance between the trash containers and recycling cart. If possible, we ask that you place the recycling cart near the mailbox and your trash container on the opposite side of the driveway.

Helping Mother Earth

Recycling saves energy, reduces pollution, and preserves valuable natural resources with very little effort on your part. Republic Services will also provide each residence with one 95-gallon blue and yellow recycle cart. Residents may mix all recyclable materials into this one recycling cart which will be picked up every other week on your trash pickup day. 

For recycling pickup, please review the calendar for odd weeks which are highlighted in yellow.

Acceptable recycling items include:

• All #1-#7 plastic bottles and jugs 
• All glass bottles and jars 
• Aluminum, steel and bi-metal cans 
• Newspapers, magazines and junk mail 
• Cardboard

Please rinse all food/drink containers.

All of the above materials can be mixed together and must fit into this one recycling cart, whcih makes it simple and easy for all residents to recycle.

Unacceptable recycling items:

• Milk cartons
• Building materials or scrap metal
• Waxed paper
• Plastics other than products coded #1-#7
