Town of Cicero
Residential Waste Collection Information
The Town contract utilizes an automated collection system which improves efficiency and keeps costs in check. Automation also makes handling household trash easy, neat, and hassle-free for our residential customers. Automated trucks have a mechanical arm that wraps around a trash cart, and empties the cart's contents into the top of the truck.
Please have your trash and recycle bin out by Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. which is your regular pickup day. The Christmas holiday is the only day that will differ from this schedule. If Christmas day is on Wednesday, then your items will be picked up the next business day.
Waste: automated waste removal service runs once a week and includes one 96-gallon cart. ALL trash must be placed in the cart provided by Republic Services.
Recycling: recycling service runs every other week on the same day as your trash pickup and includes one 65-gallon cart. Recycle bins will be dropped off at your residence.
Heavy item pickup: curbside heavy trash collection will be collected twice a year; you will be notified on your water bill in advance regarding these dates.
The Town of Cicero is picked up on even weeks. To contact customer service at (800) 234-6881 or our utilities office with any problems at (317) 984-4900.
Please bag or contain all trash and waste. Sticks should be bundled. Republic will not accept any hazardous waste, tires, toxic waste, or any item that may contain refrigerant unless it has been red tagged by an authorized company.
Helping Mother Earth
Recycling saves energy, reduces pollution, and preserves valuable natural resources with very little effort on your part. Republic Services will also be providing Whiteland residents each with one 65-gallon gray recycling cart. Residents may mix all recyclable materials into this one recycling cart which will be picked up every other week on trash day.
Acceptable recycling items include:
- All #1-#7 plastic bottles and jugs
- All glass bottles and jars
- Aluminum and metal cans
- Newspapers and magazines
- Cardboard, cereal boxes, soft drink cases
All of these recyclable items can be mixed and placed into this one recycling cart. This makes it simple and easy for all residents to recycle.
