Residential Waste Collection Information

The Town contract utilizes an automated collection system which improves efficiency and keeps costs in check. Automation also makes handling household trash easy, neat, and hassle-free for our residential customers. Automated trucks have a mechanical arm that wraps around a trash cart, and empties the cart's contents into the top of the truck.

Republic provides 96 gallon carts for one (1) time a week trash pick up. Republic also provides a 65 gallon cart for recycling that is picked up every other week (EOW) on the same day as your trash. The Town of Cicero is picked up on the even week. Please refer to the calendar in the "Common Questions" section of our website. Twice a year you will have curbside heavy trash collection, you will be notified on your water bill in advance regarding these dates. Recycle bins will be dropped off at your residence.

Please have your trash and recycle bin out by 6:00 a.m. on trash day. Wednesday will be your regular pickup day. The Christmas Holiday is the only day that will differ from this schedule. If Christmas Day is on Wednesday you will be picked up the next business day.

Please bag or contain all trash and waste. Sticks should be bundled. Republic will not accept any hazardous waste, tires, toxic waste, or any item that may contain refrigerant unless it has been red tagged by an authorized company.

• Paper
• Cardboard (broken down in to manageable quantities)
• Aluminum
• Tin
• Steel food cans
• Plastics #1 and #2
• Please rinse containers. There is no need to remove labels.
