Automated Trash and Recycle Pickup

We appreciate you choosing Republic Services as your waste removal service provider. All refuse must be placed at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on your collection day.

Whiteland residential trash will be picked up every Tuesday of each week. Recycling materials will be picked every other week following our even week schedule.

Waste: automated waste removal service runs once a week and includes one 95-gallon navy blue cart. ALL trash must be placed in the cart provided by Republic Services.

Recycling: recycling service runs every other week and includes one 95-gallon cart.

Bulk pickup: one heavy item pickup per month per residence. Heavy items should be placed at the curb on the first Tuesday of every month.

Please note: only one heavy item per residence per month will be allowed on the heavy pick up day noted.

Should you find that your cart is too small, please contact us and we can arrange to deliver a second cart. An additional charge of $1.50 per month will be assessed per additional cart requested. Please call customer service at (800) 234-6881 or click here to send us a message.

Acceptable trash items:

We can pick up standard household garbage, including food waste and cloth, shrubbery cuttings and broken down boxes as long as it is contained within your specially designed cart. If you have an item that does not fit in your cart, please hold that item until your heavy pickup day which is on the first Tuesday of each month.

Placement of acceptable trash items:

Make sure your trash is placed at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on your collection day, which is Tuesday. Republic Services will empty the cart using trucks that are equipped with an automated arm. This arm will grasp and quickly empty the container into the truck and then return the cart to its original position at the curb, which allows the operator to remain in the cab. This operation is a more prompt and safe method rather than manual collection.

Make sure the cart has at least 4-feet of clearance from mailboxes and parked cars, and assure the handle is facing the residence.
Make sure your cart lid is closed. This will keep any trash from spilling out into the roadway while dumping.
When you recycle, leave a 4-foot clearance between the trash cart and recycling cart. If possible, we ask that you place the recycling cart near the mailbox and your trash cart on the opposite side of the driveway.

Please use plastic bags to contain your trash within the cart. This will prevent loose trash from escaping both the cart and the truck.

Sorry, we can't take everything
For safety and health reasons, we cannot pick up the following items:

Demolition, construction, discarded building materials such as drywall, roofing, brick, and wood.
Trees, large tree limbs, or tree stumps longer than 3-feet in length.

Only limbs cut shorter than 3-feet, tied and bundled will be accepted.

Brush and vegetation from building contractors, commercial tree trimmers, or lawn services.
Sod, fill dirt, trash from contractor clearing and other materials that require special handling.
Explosives, pathological and biological waste, radioactive material, ashes and sand.
Automotive parts such as engines, rear ends, springs, fenders and seats.
Farm equipment, marine vessels, or any other major parts.
Septic, human and animal waste.

Diapers and cat litter are accepetable only in minimal amounts.

Heavy Trash Pickup

One heavy trash item will be allowed per month per residence for pickup. Items can include household furniture, appliances, bicycles, etc. There will be an extra charge for heavy items over and above the maximum of one heavy item allowed per month per Whiteland residence. Any appliances which contain freon will not be collected unless a certificate is attached to each appliance certifying the freon has been removed by a licensed professional.

Holiday Schedule

To acknowledge these holidays and to allow our employees to spend time with their families we do not provide service on:

Memorial Day
Labor Day
July 4th
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
New Years Day

Trash collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. If the holiday falls on a weekend, your collection day will not change. Trash collection may also be delayed due to severe weather.

Helping Mother Earth

Recycling saves energy, reduces pollution, and preserves valuable natural resources with very little effort on your part. Republic Services will also be providing each Whiteland resident with one 65-gallon gray recycling cart (denoted with recycling labels or different colored lids). Residents may mix all recyclable materials into this one recycling cart which will be picked up every other week on Tuesday.

Acceptable recycling items include:

All #1-#7 plastic bottles and jugs
All glass bottles and jars
Aluminum and metal cans
Newspapers and magazines
Cardboard, cereal boxes and soft drink cases

All of these recyclable items can be mixed and placed into this one recycling cart, which makes it simple and easy for all residents to recycle.
