Town of Whiteland

Automated Trash/Recycle Pick-Up

We appreciate you choosing Republic Services as your waste removal service provider. Your automated waste removal service includes one pick up per week for trash (95 gallon cart), every other week pick up for recycling ( 95 gallon cart ) and 1 heavy item picked up per month per residence. Heavy items need to be placed at the curb on the “first Tuesday” of each month.

Please note: only one “heavy item” per residence per month will be allowed on the “heavy” pick up day noted.

All refuse must be placed at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on your collection day. Whiteland residential trash will be picked up on every Tuesday of each week starting August 5th, 2008. Recycling materials will be picked every other week, following our “even” week schedule.

ALL trash must be placed in the Cart provided by Republic Services. (Navy blue in color).

Should you find that you are consistently having more trash than what fits in the cart, please contact us. We can arrange to deliver a second cart. A charge of $1.50 per month will be assessed per additional cart requested.

Please call Customer Service @ 1-800-234-6881 or use our website www.indyrecycles.com to place an order for an additional cart or to report a missed collection. Go to the Whiteland section of the residential page for details.

What you may put out:

We can pick up standard household garbage, including food waste and cloth, shrubbery cuttings and broken down boxes as long as it is contained within your specially designed cart.

  • If you have an item that does not fit in your cart, please hold that item until your heavy pick up day which is on the first Tuesday of each month.

How to put it out:

Make sure your trash is placed at the curb by 8 a.m. on your collection day. (Tues)

Republic will empty the cart using trucks that are equipped with an automated arm. This arm will grasp and quickly empty the container into the truck and then return the cart to its original position at the curb. All of this is done without the operator ever having to leave the cab. This operation is performed quicker and safer than traditional manual collection methods.

  • Please make sure the cart has at least 4 feet of clearance from mailboxes, parked cars, etc. and that the handle is facing the residence.
  • Also, please make sure your cart lid is closed — this will keep any trash from spilling out into the roadway while dumping.
  • When you recycle, please leave a 4ft clearance between the Trash Cart and Recycling Cart. If possible, we ask that you place the Recycling Cart near the mailbox and your Trash Cart on the opposite side of the driveway.

Please use plastic bags to contain your trash within the cart. This will prevent loose trash from escaping both the cart and the truck.

Sorry, we can't take everything…

For safety and health reasons, we cannot pick up the following items:

  • Demolition, construction, or discarded building materials, like drywall, roofing, brick, and wood

  • Brush and vegetation from building contractors, commercial tree trimmers, or lawn services

Heavy Trash Pick-Up

(i.e. household furniture, appliances, bicycles, etc.) There will be an extra charge for heavy items over and above the maximum 1- heavy item allowed per month per Whiteland residence. Prior arrangements are required for additional items. Please go to our website www.indyrecycles.com under the Whiteland section of the residential page to email us, or call 1-800-234-6881.

Helping Mother Earth

Recycling saves energy, reduces pollution, and preserves valuable natural resources...with very little effort on your part. Republic will also be providing Whiteland residents each with 1- 95 gallon recycling cart (denoted with recycling labels or different colored lids). Residents may mix all recyclable materials into this one recycling cart which will be picked up every other week on Tuesday. Allowable recycling items include:

  • All #1 & #2 plastic bottles
  • Aluminum & metal cans
  • Newspapers & Magazines
  • Cardboard/Cereal Box/Soft drink cases

**** All of these recyclable items can be mixed and placed into this one recycling cart. This makes it simple and easy for all residents to recycle.

Please contact the Whiteland Town Hall with any questions or comments @ # 317-535-5531 or go to our website www.indyrecycles.com under the Whiteland section of the residential page for details or to email Republic Waste Services.

We would also like to thank all Whiteland residents for their participation. Please remember, we start your trash pick up on Tuesday, 8-5-08. This also includes your One Heavy Trash Item pick up for the month.
